Samantha Mata

Hi! I'm Samantha Mata, a 2D animator and storyteller who loves bringing ideas to life through movement, emotion, and wordlbuilding. I'm currently completing my studies at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, where I'm developing my graduation short film - a project that combines my love for character-driven storytelling and visual expression.

I specialize in 2D cut-out animation and rigging, mainly using Toon Boom Harmony, and I also enjoy working on compositing in After Effects. My background includes creating independent animation projects and collaborating in studio environments, where I've learned the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and creative problem-solving.

Beyond animation, I'm deeply passionate about writing character descriptions, exploring new worlds, and crafting stories that connect with people. Whether it's through an expressive gesture, a quiet moment, or a vivid environment, I aim to create work that feels alive and resonates emotionally.
